Katie Malin

Hi! I’m a Game Writer currently working at Turtle Rock Studios in Orange County, CA.
I’ve contributed my talents to three critically acclaimed games: Back 4 Blood,World of Warcraft, and Overwatch. I help everyone tell their best stories and direct voice actors.

Sometimes I talk about autism and how to succeed in the game industry, representation of women in games, and I’m an active advocate of the LGBT+ community which I served in an official capacity as a Communications Officer at Blizzard.

ABOUT ME

Armed with a journalism and film education from Chapman University, I spent several years working as a reporter and advertising copywriter where I interviewed and worked with a plethora of characters to create authentic, human stories. In 2017, I landed a coveted role on the Overwatch team as an editor. There, I pieced together the smattering of lore in the game into a comprehensible format that captured the backstories and feats of our diverse cast of characters. Then I took that treatment to World of Warcraft, where I wrote print content and directed videos showing off upcoming game features and storylines.

Now, on Back 4 Blood I write dialogue, in-game text, lore, and voice direct our all-star cast to bring our characters and post-apocalyptic world to life.

Outside of work you’ll most likely find me out adventuring with my wolf-lookalike Whiskey and motley crew of free spirits, slaying pixel dragons and players, reading a new book or research paper, or working on a personal project.
